The Nonprofit Heart of ETFI Life Skills and Counseling

Empower Texas Families Initiative (ETFI) is the nonprofit foundation that powers our mission to provide holistic, trauma-informed, and equitable care to Medicaid-eligible families—and those who fall through the cracks of traditional systems.

While our counseling and life skills services are built to support individuals with Medicaid, our nonprofit ensures that uninsured or underinsured families can still access the same life-changing support, regardless of income or coverage status.

What We Do Through ETFI

Thanks to grants, sponsorships, and community donations, ETFI provides:

• Free or subsidized counseling for uninsured families

• Emergency assistance (rent, groceries, clothing, utilities)

• School-based mental health programs in underserved areas

• Youth development programs including mentoring, tutoring, and sports

• Financial literacy, workforce development, and caregiver training

• Behavioral health education workshops for families and communities

ETFI also drives outreach and enrollment efforts to connect families with Medicaid, stable housing, academic supports, and community-based care.
